DAYTON – On the heels of a three-win weekend that featured back-to-back victories over power conference opponents No. 20 Miami (FL) and Ohio State, the Wright State volleyball team is receiving votes in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, as the organization released its updated weekly rankings on Monday afternoon.
Â
Monday's inclusion in the receiving votes category marked the first time Wright State has seen its name in the poll since the 2021 AVCA Preseason Poll, while the Raiders were a mainstay in the poll's listing during the COVID-altered spring 2021 season when they closed the shortened campaign by receiving votes in the final seven AVCA polls of the season.
Â
The Raiders are currently ranked No. 2 in the country with their 14.77 kills per set average and are also No. 2 nationally with a 13.81 assists per set mark. Setter Lauren Yacobucci is third nationally with her 11.48 assists per set mark and her 356 assists are No. 15 in the country. Sam Ott was named the Horizon League's Player of the Week on Monday after recording 47 total kills (3.92 kills/set) with a .349 attack percentage and two double-doubles in the three weekend wins.
Â
Wright State is currently 7-2 on the season after the weekend wins, as the Raiders head outside the state of Ohio for action this upcoming weekend with matches at Ball State on Friday and at Butler on Saturday.
