STRUTHERS, OH – The No. 20 Wright State bowling team tallied four wins on the opening day of the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic on Friday, going 4-1 in the first day of action to sit in ninth in the 18-team field.

Saturday's action will feature five traditional matches beginning at 9:25 a.m. before three best-of-seven Baker matches on Sunday.
Teams bowled five head-to-head Baker matches on Friday, with the Raiders grabbing wins over Walsh (919-779), No. 21 Valparaiso (941-895), No. 12 Duquesne (995-921) and No. 11 Sacred Heart (944-933). The lone blemish came with a narrow, 1,011-996 defeat against No. 3 Vanderbilt. Wright State finished with a 4,795 total pinfall on Friday with a 191.8 average game score.
Vanderbilt was the only team to go 5-0 on Friday, as the Raiders were one of five teams to tally 4-1 marks. No. 2 Nebraska, also 4-1, is in first after recording a 5,404 total pinfall, followed by Vanderbilt (5,266), No. 1 Jacksonville State (5,254) and No. 4 Youngstown State (5,074) atop the standings.
Saturday's traditional matches will see Wright State square off against No. 1 Jacksonville State, Coppin State, Alabama A&M, No. 2 Nebraska and No. 25 Niagara.
