Raiders get double-doubles from Sowko, Yacobucci on Saturday

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – The Wright State volleyball team got a pair of double-doubles on Saturday from Katie Sowko and Lauren Yacobucci, but the Raiders fell in four sets at Robert Morris in Horizon League action.

Wright State (15-10, 9-5 Horizon) drops to third place in the Horizon League standings, one match behind IU Indy, who improved to 10-4 with its Saturday win. The Raiders do hold the season tiebreaker over IU Indy. With two weekends remaining the regular season, Wright State travels to Purdue Fort Wayne next weekend before closing at home against Oakland November 14 and 15.

On Saturday, Robert Morris (9-16, 5-9 Horizon) saw the Raiders take the opening set, 25-17, before responding with three straight set wins of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-21. The hosts finished the afternoon hitting .240 overall with just 16 errors while Wright State had a .193 team attacking percentage and ha 26 errors.

Sowko finished with a team-high 18 kills for the Raiders and added 19 digs for her 13th double-double of the year, while Yacobucci had 11 digs to go along with passing out 49 of Wright State's 58 assists for her 11th double-double of the campaign. Reilly Zegunis and Audrey Hudson each collected nine kills, with Zegunis tallying three blocks, as Taylor Bransfield and Elena Dubuc both added eight kills. Defensively, Ella Gaona recorded 23 digs to pace Wright State, while Taygan Corstange had 12 digs to join Gaona, Sowko and Yacobucci as the four players with double digit digs.

Jocelyn Jourdan finished with a match-high 23 kills and added 19 digs, while Kaitlyn Brown had 42 assists and 14 digs of her own as the pair each had double-doubles in the win for the hosts.
