Men's Basketball slips in overtime Sunday afternoon

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV – The Wright State men's basketball team saw a trio of players finish in double figures on Sunday afternoon but the Raiders fell 76-72 in overtime to Kent State at the Greenbrier Tip-Off.

Wright State (2-3) now returns to the Nutter Center for a Thursday night contest against Ohio Wesleyan in a 7 p.m. tipoff. Fans can follow the action several ways – on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the radio and television feeds.

Sunday was a back-and-forth battle throughout, with the sides tied at 32 at the break, as Kent State (4-1) tied the game with 10 seconds remaining on a Cian Medley jumper before Michael Cooper's three-pointer at the buzzer bounced off rim to send the game to overtime. In the extra session, the Raiders had a three-point lead with 3:43 remaining, only to see Kent State scored the next eight points for a 72-67 advantage with 1:28 to play. A Kellen Pickett dunk pulled Wright State right back within three, but Kent State hit four straight free throws to seal the game before a final Cooper three-pointer in the final moments.

Cooper finished with a team-high 19 points for Wright State, who also got 10 points from Callaghan and a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double effort from Andrea Holden. Pickett chipped in eight points off the bench while Michael Imariagbe had seven points and Bryan Etumnu finished with six.

The Raiders shot 44 percent overall and led by as many as 10 points with 8:37 remaining in the second half, while Kent State shot 40 percent overall. Neither side was effective from deep, with Wright State finishing 6-of-24 and Kent State 5-of-23, with Kent State outrebounding the Raiders 46-32.

Delrecco Gillespie finished with a game-high 26 points and 17 rebounds for Kent State in the win, while Medley and Morgan Safford each added 10 points.
