INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — The Horizon League released its 2025 Valeo Cross Country All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, with Wright State's Patrick Statzer among the student-athletes honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives, while Elle Lambert and Sydney Thompson were each named an honorable mentions for their work in the classroom. 

To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution (excluding summer school), having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.

Statzer, a senior Crime and Justice Studies major, set a new 8K cross country personal best with a time of 24:38.6 at the at the 2025 Horizon League Championship as he finished 21st overall. He competed in five events over the fall cross country schedule while also serving on Wright State SAAC as a Cross Country team representative. Statzer has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester he has been eligible and his work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in each semester, with highest honors in Fall 2022, Fall 2023 and Fall 2024, with high honors in Spring 2024 and Spring 2025, and honors in Spring 2023.
 
Lambert, a junior Crime and Justice Studies major, set a new 6K cross country personal best with a time of 23:06.3 at the at the 2025 Horizon League Championship as she competed in five events over the fall cross country schedule. Lambert has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester she has been eligible and her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in each semester, with highest honors in Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.
 
Thompson, a junior Nursing major, set a new 6K cross country personal best with a time of 22:44.6 at the at the 2025 Horizon League Championship as she competed in six events over the fall cross country schedule. Thompson serves on Wright State SAAC as a Cross Country team representative and has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester she has been eligible. Her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in each semester, with highest honors in Fall 2023, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, and honors in Spring 2024.
