Raiders tally first and second team Horizon League honors

DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State volleyball team grabbed five overall honors on Thursday afternoon as the 2025 Horizon League Volleyball Awards were announced, led by first team recognition from Lauren Yacobucci and Reilly Zegunis. Mya Ayro and Katie Sowko each earned second team honors and Elena Dubuc was a Sportsmanship Award finalist.
 
Yacobucci has played in all 29 of the team's contests through end of regular season while playing 109 sets and appeared in 66 sets in conference play, averaging 11.38 assists per set in conference play with 751 total assists in HL contests, both of which are second in the Horizon League despite playing two less sets. She has recorded 14 double-double matches this season overall (eight against HL opponents) and has passed out 25-plus assists in every match this season. She has 40-plus assists 14 times despite Wright State playing in 13 three set matches. Yacobucci tied a career-high with 57 assists in a victory over Power opponent Cal on Sept. 6 and also had 55 assists in win over Power opponent Ohio State on Sept. 13. Defensively, she has recorded 264 total digs this season (third-most on roster) with a 2.42 digs per set average and added 47.0 blocks, the fourth-most on the Raider roster.
 
Zegunis has played in all 29 of the team's contests through end of regular season while playing 109 sets and appeared in 66 sets in conference play, with her 256 total kills being the third-most on the Raider roster, as is her 2.35 kills/set average. In conference matches, she has 186 kills and a 2.82 kills/set average, both second on the Raider roster, both Top 20 in the HL. Zegunis has recorded double-digit kills in 13 of 29 matches this season (11 against HL opponents) and also has 97.0 total blocks on the season, No. 8 in the HL and tops on the Raider roster, with 65.0 of those coming in Horizon League matches (No. 5 in the HL).
 
Ayro has played in 25 of the team's contests through end of regular season while playing 94 total sets and appeared in 51 sets in conference play. Her 372 total kills and her 3.96 kills/set average are both the most on the Raider roster and No. 5 in the HL, while in conference matches, she has 189 kills and a 3.71 kills/set average, both No. 11 in the HL. Ayro has recorded double-digit kills in 22 of 25 matches this season, including 15-plus kills in 10 matches and a career-high 25 kills in win over Power opponent Ohio State on Sept. 13, while she recorded 13 of her double-digit kill matches against HL opponents.
 
Sowko has played in 27 of the team's contests through end of regular season while playing 100 total sets and appeared in 58 sets in conference play. She has 331 total kills for a 3.31 kills/set average, both Top 10 in the Horizon, while in conference matches, she has 205 kills and a 3.53 kills/set average, both Top 10 in the Horizon. Sowko has registered 288 total digs to date, the second-most on the Raider roster, while her 2.88 digs per set average is also second on the roster. She has 15 double-doubles this season, including 10 against HL opponents, and has recorded double-digit kills in 20 of 27 matches this season (14 against HL opponents).

Dubuc was named a finalist for the sportsmanship award following her senior campaign. The right side hitter played in all 29 of the team's contests through end of regular season while playing 108 sets, with 172 total kills and a 1.59 kills/set average. The Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect, and integrity.
