HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – The Wright State volleyball team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last seven seasons after a dominant three-set sweep over Northern Kentucky on Sunday in the Horizon League Championship match.
Wright State (21-10) will find out its postseason destination as part of the NCAA Selection Show on November 30.
Sunday, the Raiders took the opening set 25-18 before a 25-16 second set and a 25-19 final set for the title. Wright State hit .313 as a group with 44 kills against 13 errors while holding Northern Kentucky (22-9) to just a .168 attacking percentage in the sweep.
Mya Ayro finished with a match-best 14 kills on the way to Horizon League Championship MVP honors, while
Katie Sowko earned a spot on the All-Tournament team with a 10-kill performance of her own.
Lauren Yacobucci passed out 33 of Wright State's 43 assists for an All-Tournament selection of her own, while
Ella Gaona was an All-Tournament honoree after 20 digs in Sunday's win.
Taylor Bransfield turned in eight kills and seven blocks, while
Greta McKee finished with nine digs and
Taygan Corstange added seven digs.
