Men’s Soccer Announces 2025 Schedule

DAYTON – The Wright State men's soccer program and third-year head coach Alex Van der Sluijs released its 2025 schedule on Tuesday morning. The 18-game slate is highlighted by eight home contests at Alumni Field this fall.
The Raiders will open the season with a pair of exhibition matches, first at Alumni Field against the University of the Cumberlands (Aug. 9), then on the road at Ohio State (Aug. 15). WSU begins regular season play at Belmont (Aug. 21) before returning home to host Bowling Green (Aug. 28). Wright State wraps up the month at Lindenwood (Aug. 31).
WSU will play four matches on the road in September, starting with a pair in Chicago– against Loyola Chicago (Sept. 4) and UIC (Sept. 7). The Raiders will remain away from home to open Horizon League action at IUPUI on Sept. 13, before returning to host Purdue Fort Wayne (Sept. 20). Wright State travels to Notre Dame for a Tuesday night matchup (Sept. 23) and ends the month at home against Detroit Mercy (Sept. 27).
October features three straight home contests at Alumni Field, with matchups against Xavier (Oct. 7), Northern Kentucky (Oct. 11), and Milwaukee (Oct. 18). WSU opens and closes the month on the road, facing Cleveland State (Oct. 4), Green Bay (Oct. 25), and Oakland (Oct. 31).
The Raiders will conclude the regular season at home on Tuesday, Nov. 4, with a Senior Day matchup against Robert Morris.
Wright State finished the 2024 season with a 7-9-2 overall record and a 3-5-1 mark in Horizon League play. Two Raiders earned All-League honors last season: Cole Werthmuller was named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-League First Team, while Brock Pickett was selected to the All-League Third Team.

The Buckeyes went 16-2-4 last season with a 7-1-2 Big Ten record, winning the conference tournament with a 1-0 victory over Michigan and advancing to the NCAA College Cup semifinals, where they fell to No. 13 Marshall, 1-0. The 2025 meeting will mark the 25th all-time matchup, with Wright State holding a 9-7-8 record over Ohio State.
Belmont (Aug. 21, Nashville, TN; season opener)
The Bruins finished 5-8-4 overall and 1-5-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2024. Wright State holds a 4-0-1 all-time record against Belmont, with the last meeting in 2017 resulting in a 2-1 Raider win.
Bowling Green (Aug. 28, Alumni Field; home opener)
The Falcons went 12-6-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference last season. They reached the MVC tournament final before falling to Evansville, 3-2, in overtime. Bowling Green leads the all-time series 13-8-3, dating back to 1982.
Lindenwood (Aug. 31, St. Charles, MO)
Lindenwood finished 11-6-3 overall and 6-2-2 in the OVC in its second season at the Division I level. The Lions reached the OVC semifinals, where they lost to Houston Christian. Wright State defeated Lindenwood 4-1 last year in the programs' first meeting.
Loyola-Chicago (Sep. 4, Chicago, IL)
The Ramblers went 5-9-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the Atlantic 10 in 2024. Last season marked the first meeting between the two programs.
UIC (Sep.7, Chicago, IL)
The Flames ended the season 7-10 overall and 3-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference, with a quarterfinal loss to Bowling Green. UIC holds a 19-13-6 all-time record over the Raiders as the two last met in 2021.
IU-Indy (Sep. 13, Indianapolis, IN; Horizon League opener)
