Statzer paces Raiders at the Rumble in the Fort

FORT WAYNE – The Wright State cross country teams were back in action Saturday morning at the Rumble in the Fort, with the Raider men finishing second as a group in the men's 8K race and the Wright State women finishing eighth in their 6K race at the Mastodon Cross Country Course.

The Raider men were paced by Patrick Statzer's eighth-place finish with a 25:02.9 mark, followed momentarily by Blake Rodgers at 25:04.4 in ninth. Eric Dando was 17th at 25:25.5 and Evan McPherson was just steps behind at 25:26.4 in 18th to give the Raiders four finishers in the Top 20. In the women's race, Shelby Hept finished 27th with a 22:42.8 time to lead Wright State, with Samantha Seas close behind in 34th at 23:01.8 to give the Raiders two Top 35 finishers.

Overall, 29 different Wright State runners competed across the two races, with 14 Raider men running the 8K and 15 Wright State women racing in the 6K. Saturday's races served as a sneak peek at the 2025 Horizon League Cross Country Championship course, hosted by Purdue Fort Wayne later this fall on November 1.

Wright State will split for its next action, with the Raider men competing at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday, October 3 and the Wright State women running at the Louisville-hosted Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, October 4.
