Raiders ready for pair of meets this weekend

DAYTON – The Wright State cross country teams are back in action this weekend in a pair of meets, with the Raider men competing at the Joe Piane-Notre Dame Invitational on Friday morning and the Wright State women and select men competing on Saturday at the Live in Lou Classic.

On Friday, 13 Raiders will compete in South Bend, Indiana in the men's Open 5K race at 11:10 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m. in the men's Gold 8K race. The 20-team men's field includes the Raiders and meet host Notre Dame, along with: DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Ferris State, Goshen, Green Bay, Indiana State, Kansas State, Kent State, Marquette, Milwaukee, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Spring Arbor, St. Thomas (Minn.), U. of Chicago, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, Western Ontario and Windsor.
Saturday morning, 16 Wright State women will compete in Louisville, Kentucky in the women's 6K 'Blue' race at 11 a.m., with seven Raider men racing before them in the men's 8K 'Blue' race at 10:15 a.m. Saturday's meet will take place at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, the site of three NCAA I National Championships (2012, 2015, 2017), two NCAA II National Championships (2010, 2014) and three NCAA III National Championships (2016, 2019, 2021) among a host of other championship-level races.
Following this weekend's action, Wright State again will split for its next set of meets on October 17. The Raider men will compete at the Bradley Pink Classic and the Wright State women will run in Bowling Green's Falcon Invitational as the calendar inches closer to the November 1 Horizon League Championship meet.
