Hutchinson and Nakazawa Score as Raiders Fall to Purdue Fort Wayne

DAYTON- The Wright State men's soccer team came up short of Purdue Fort Wayne 2-4 Saturday Afternoon at Alumni Field.

Wright State (0-6-1) will hit the road to South Bend Indiana for a non-conference match up with Notre Dame on Tuesday, September 23. First touch is set for 7 p.m.

The Raiders were awarded a golden opportunity when Roman Kedgley was fouled inside the Purdue Fort Wayne 18-yard box for a penalty kick. Kedgley stepped up to take the kick but the shot was turned away by the Mastodons' goalkeeper.

Purdue Fort Wayne (4-0-3) broke open the scoring in the 36th minute when Trey Thread sent a cross into the Wright State box that Christian Agyekum was able to head into the back net. The Mastodons would hold this 1-0 advantage going into the half time break.

Wright State came out of the halftime break with a lot of energy and leveled the score in the 48th minute. Keiji Nakazawa received the ball inside the Purdue Fort Wayne box, controlled the ball, and laid it off to Henry Hutchinson who fired a shot past the goalkeeper for his third goal of the season.

Nakazawa would give Wright State the lead just two minutes later. Ishmael Mensah swiped the ball off a Mastodon player and played Nakazawa into space and the sophomore sent a long shot past the fully extended Purdue Fort Wayne goalkeeper.

Purdue Fort Wayne would tie the game up again in the 63rd minute when Christian Leon tapped in a rebounded shot.

The Horizon League leader in points, Shane Anderson, would score the last two goals of the match to extend his lead in points. Anderson would score his first goal of the match in the 84th minute sending a free kick into the back of the net. The Forward would score the dagger with less than 30 second on the clock when Iann Topete played a through ball up to Anderson who dribbled around the goalkeeper to make it a 4-2 game.

In the box score, the Raiders trailed in shots (10-11) and corner kick opportunities (1-4), but led the Mastodons in shots on goal (6-5).
