HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – The Wright State volleyball team played to five sets on Tuesday night, jumping out to an early advantage in the deciding set before eventually falling 3-2 at Northern Kentucky.

Wright State (8-6, 2-1 Horizon League) will look to bounce back later this week with matches Friday and Saturday at Cleveland State, while the rematch with Northern Kentucky (7-7, 3-0 Horizon League) will come in late October inside McLin Gymnasium.

On Tuesday, the Raiders took sets one and three by scores of 25-18 and 27-25, with Northern Kentucky taking sets two and four by 25-23 and 25-21 marks to set up the deciding set. In the fifth set, Wright State jumped out to a 6-2 early margin before the hosts battled back and the sides played to five tied scores down the stretch before NKU came away with the win.

Both Wright State and Northern Kentucky finished the match with a .168 team attacking percentage and 62 total kills, with the Raiders tallying one more attacking error (31) than the hosts.

Reilly Zegunis finished with a team-best 16 kills and turned in nine blocks for the Raiders, who also got 14 kills and 11 digs from Katie Sowko as she notched her seventh double-double of the year. Mya Ayro was the third Raider with double double-digit kills, tallying 13, while Taylor Bransfield and Elena Dubuc both finished with seven kills and combined for 10 blocks. Lauren Yacobucci passed out 42 of Wright State's 56 assists as Taygan Corstange collected a mach-high 25 digs and Ella Gaona added 17 digs of her own.

Ava Hoying had a match-best 22 kills to lead three NKU players with double-digit kills as Abbigail Pickard had 47 assists for the hosts.
