Bowlers start weekend strong with four Friday wins

SHREWSBURY, MO – The Wright State bowling team tallied four wins on the opening day of the Columbia 300 Saints Invite on Friday, going 4-1 in the first day of action to sit in seventh in the 16-team field.

Wright State's four wins were tied for the second-most behind the 5-0 day for UAB, but the Raiders' opening day pinfall total of 5,037 placed them seventh, with McKendree leading the way after a 4-1 day and a 5,333 pinfall total.
Saturday's action will feature traditional team matches beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET. Action closes on Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m. ET with best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play.
Teams bowled five head-to-head Baker matches on Friday, with the Raiders grabbing wins over Lewis (928-912) and Maryville (1,031-1,022) before falling in a close match to Sacred Heart (989-939). Wright State bounced back to end the day with wins over Wichita State (1,097-958) and Newman (1,004-971).
Saturday's traditional matches will see the Raiders square off against Oklahoma Christian, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Western Illinois, Nebraska and McKendree.
