DAYTON, Ohio — Wright State forward Maximilian Banfi and midfielder Gabe Gotting were named to the 2026 Horizon League All-League Second Team, the league announced today, capping a season in which the Raiders went 7-7-3 overall and 5-3-2 in Horizon League play.
The honors are the first career All-League selections for both players. Banfi was also one of five (5) finalists for the league's Sportsmanship Award.
Banfi and Gotting are Wright State's first First Team or Second Team All-League selections since 2024, and it's the first time since 2022 that two (2) Raiders made the Second Team.
The Raiders improved by five (5) wins after finishing 2-13-1 in 2025, including a jump from two (2) Horizon League wins to five (5).
Banfi
Banfi had four (4) points on one (1) goal and two (2) assists, and was third on the team with 21 shots. He appeared in 16 matches and was not shown a yellow or red card all season.
Banfi is Wright State's second straight Sportsmanship Award finalist, following Alessandro Malterer in 2025.
Gotting
Gotting, a team captain, was second on the team with four (4) goals and tied for second with nine (9) points. He scored a game-winning goal, went 2-for-2 on penalty kicks and appeared in all 17 matches.
The All-League honor is Gotting's second league recognition this week. He was named to the Horizon League Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team on Wednesday, the first Raider on the league's men's soccer academic team since 2024.
League honors
The All-League teams were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches. Cleveland State's Tom Mertz was named Horizon League Player of the Year, and IU Indianapolis' Jago Thompson-Roberts won the Sportsmanship Award.
