Raiders fall in First Round at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Wright State women's basketball team's (10-22, 6-14 HL) season came to an end in the First Round of the Horizon League Championships Wednesday night in Youngstown, falling 60-76.
Breezie Williams finished with 14 points to lead the Raiders on Wednesday night. She was joined in double digits by Maja Dilen, who tied her career-high with 11 points, while Ellie Magestro-Kennedy and Lauren Scott each finished with 10 points. Claire Henson finished with a game-high 10 rebounds, her fourth outing this season with double-digit rebounds. Wright State got a balanced scoring attack with eight different Raiders finding their way onto the scoresheet.
The Raiders and Penguins exchanged buckets early, with the Penguins holding a narrow one-point lead at the break. Williams led all players going into the locker room at halftime with 11 points. She was trailed by Magestro-Kennedy, who had six points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
Youngstown State kept its foot on the gas in the second half to pull away from the Raiders late, outscoring them 23-14 in the third quarter and 23-27 in the final 10 minutes.
Erica King led all okayers with 19 points to lead three other penguins in double digits. She was joined in double figures by Sophia Gregory with 13 points, Casey Santoro with 12 points, and Sarah Baker with 10 points.
In the box score, Wright State and Youngstown State were tied in points in the paint with 26 and bench points with 16. The Raiders led in total rebounds (36-29), offensive rebounds (14-5), and second-chance points (9-6). Wright State trailed in defensive rebounds (22-24) and fast break points (5-9).
