Bowlers open weekend with four Friday wins

Smyrna, TN – The No. 9 Wright State bowling team tallied four wins on the opening day of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic on Friday, going 4-1 in the first day of action to sit in 11th in the 34-team field.

Wright State was one of eight teams to go 4-1 behind a pair of 5-0 squads, but the Raiders' opening day pinfall of 4,914 placed them 11th, with No. 1 Jacksonville State leading the way after a 5-0 day and a 5,565 pinfall total.

Saturday's action will feature traditional team matches beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET. Action closes on Sunday starting at 9:55 a.m. ET with best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play.

Teams bowled five head-to-head Baker matches on Friday, with the Raiders grabbing wins over No. 7 Maryville (979-953), Fairleigh Dickinson (983-929) before falling in a tight match to No. 13 McKendree (993-987). Wright State bounced back with back-to-back wins over Wisconsin-Whitewater (1,010-982) and Prairie View A&M (955-816) to close the day.
