Late Goals Lift Raiders Past Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, IL – The Wright State men's soccer team earned its first win of the 2026 season Thursday afternoon, scoring twice in the final three minutes to defeat Eastern Illinois 2-1.
Wright State (1-2) will return home Sunday, August 30, to host Lindenwood at Alumni Field. First touch is slated for 1 p.m.
The Raiders controlled much of the match, thanks to an early Eastern Illinois red card in the 8th minute, but the match remained scoreless through the first 85 minutes.
Eastern Illinois struck first in the 87th minute when Keidin Green scored off an assist from Bernardo Hanel to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Wright State answered less than a minute later when Djafar Al Badawi played a pass to Cole Trollip, who found the back of the net in the 88th minute to level the match at 1-1. The goal was Trollip's first of the season.
The Raiders completed the comeback just 1:25 later. Trollip turned provider, assisting Nick Dunaway on the match-winning goal in the 89th minute as Wright State claimed the 2-1 victory. The goal was Dunaway's first of the season.
Keiji Nakazawa led the Raiders with five shots, while Rowen Arnold added two shots. Alex Normandeau played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves to earn his first win of the season.
In the box score, Wright State led Eastern Illinois in shots (16-7), shots on goal (6-3), and corner kick opportunities (8-4).
