DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team dropped its first match of the weekend on Friday night, falling to Western Kentucky in three sets inside the Nutter Center.

Wright State (2-2) will be back inside the Nutter Center Saturday afternoon to take on Ball State. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.

Western Kentucky claimed the match by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21. The Hilltoppers hit .363 as a team and recorded 42 kills while limiting Wright State to a .230 attacking percentage and 39 kills.

The opening set featured seven ties and seven lead changes before Western Kentucky used a late run to pull away. The Raiders battled back from an early deficit in the second set and tied the score at 20-20 before the visitors scored five of the final seven points to take a two-set advantage. Wright State trailed 5-0 early in the third set but fought back to tie the score at 14-14 before Western Kentucky closed the match with an 11-7 run.

Reilly Zegunis led Wright State with 12 kills while hitting .478 and added three blocks. Katie Sowko finished with eight kills, while Mya Ayro added eight kills and two service aces. Haley Robinson provided seven kills and hit .571, and Abigail Knight chipped in five kills.

Lauren Yacobucci passed out 26 of Wright State's 32 assists and added seven digs. Taygan Corstange paced the back line with eight digs, while the Raiders recorded nine service aces in the match.

Kaira Knox led Western Kentucky with 10 kills and hit .444, while Faith Young added nine kills and Kate Rush finished with six kills and 33 assists. The Hilltoppers also held a 7-3 advantage in team blocks.
