Walt Triplett enters his second full season as the head coach of the Wright State men's and women's tennis teams. Triplett came to WSU in January 2005 after Herb Foster passed away the previous fall.
In his first season, the men's team finished with nine wins overall and a 3-2 mark in the Horizon League while the women posted a 3-4 League mark and seven wins altogether.
Prior to Wright State, Triplett was the head men's tennis coach at Sinclair Community College in Dayton for four years. While there, he led the Tartars to a national ranking in each year with the program, joining Ohio State as the only two programs in Ohio to achieve this distinction. Away from the court, he coached two National Junior College Athletic Association Academic All-Americans and five Ohio Community College Athletic Association Academic All-Americans. His teams were also twice the recipient of the Athletic Directors Award for being the Sinclair team with the highest grade point average. Seven former student-athletes, both male and female, have gone on to earn scholarships to compete at the next level.
Along with his tenure at Sinclair, Triplett has experience as a tennis instuctor at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Tennis Club.
A member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Triplett earned a degree in Political Sciences and Urban Life from Atlanta Metropolitan College in 1995.
