Chad Camper, owner of many Wright State University tennis records, returned to the program as an assistant men's and women's coach in July 2010 and was named Associate Head Coach in 2013.
In 2011, he was instrumental in improvements, seeing the women reach 14 wins and the men post 17 wins as well as two Horizon League honoress. In 2012, Camper helped guide the men's team to a regular-season title with a 7-0 record as four players were honored with Horizon League selections.
Camper, a 2004 graduate of WSU after a professional career, was named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference (now Horizon League) Player of the Year as well as the Wright State Male Athlete of the Year as a junior as he led his team to the conference team championship in 2001. Among his records, the Lima, Ohio, native holds the school's most singles wins (98), second most doubles wins (77) and second most career wins (175).
"Chad has a truly unmatched passion for Wright State University and in particular the WSU tennis program," said head tennis coach Sean McCaffrey. "His knowledge of the game and work ethic are clearly his strong suits, and his professionalism and integrity helps guide our program. His enthusiasm and dedication for player development helps revolutionize our tennis program."
Since finishing his WSU playing career, Camper has owned and operated C.E. Camper, a successful trucking company in the Dayton area as well as providing private tennis lessons for area high school players. He also played professionally on the ATP Tour from 2002-03 and was a tennis instructor at Sherwood Country Club and Springfield Country Club.
"It is a joy to return to WSU and the tennis program," Camper said. "After seeing Coach McCaffrey's knowledge and past success, it will be a pleasure to work under him. I am ready to take whatever challenges head on and drive to win conference championships."
