After completing a stellar four-year career at Niagara University, Hannah Hedrick joins the Wright State volleyball coaching staff in 2012 as a volunteer coach.
An outside hitter for the Purple Eagles from 2008-11, Hedrick was the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 along with being a First Team All-MAAC selection as she was ninth in the conference in digs per set (3.13), led the team in kills with 435 and posted 17 double-doubles. She was selected to the MAAC All-Tournament Team as she had 15 kills and eight kills in the semifinals against Canisius and recorded 20 kills and 11 digs in the finals versus Fairfield. The Purple Eagles went 25-9 for the second straight season and faced Northern Iowa in the NCAA Tournament.
In 2010, Hedrick earned First Team All-MAAC honors as she recorded a team-high 323 kills along with 338 digs on the season and also posted 13 double-doubles. She was also named the Most Outstanding Player at the MAAC Tournament as she had 17 kills and 17 digs in the quarterfinals against Siena, 11 kills and 21 digs versus Fairfield in the semifinals and 18 kills and 11 digs in the finals against Iona. Niagara finished 25-9 that season and faced Penn State in the NCAA Tournament.
As a sophomore in 2009, Hedrick was again a First Team All-MAAC honoree as well as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year as she posted 472 kills, the second-highest single-season total in school history, and 401 digs. She was also selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the MAAC Tournament as she had 21 kills and 20 digs in the semifinals against Siena and 10 kills with six digs in the finals versus Marist. The Purple Eagles finished 23-9, won its first-ever MAAC title, and faced Michigan in the NCAA Tournament.
In 2008, her freshman season, Hedrick had a team-best 357 kills along with 373 digs and 32 service aces. She recorded 15 double-doubles, including a pair of 20-kill, 20-dig matches. For her career, Hedrick finished first in Niagara history with 4660 attack attempts, second with 1587 kills, third with 1485 digs and also had 122 service aces and 134 blocks.
Off the court, Hedrick was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in each of her final three seasons and was twice named the Vincent O'Malley Athlete of the Year.
A Cincinnati native and a graduate of Oak Hills High School, Hedrick is a frequent volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics and Make-a-Wish among others. She also worked as a counselor at various camps as well as interning at WIVB-TV in Buffalo.
Making the Dean's List each year, Hedrick earned a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in marketing from Niagara in 2012.
