Bill Edwards is one of the most decorated Raiders in school history, including his number (42) being the only number to be retired in the history of Wright State men’s basketball.
During his time at WSU, Edwards was named Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year (1993), All-Mid-Continent Conference in 1992 and 1993, and team MVP in each of his four seasons with the Raiders.
As the only 2,000 point scorer in school history, Edward’s 2,303 career points rank him as the school’s all-time leading scorer. His 907 career rebounds also are the most in Raider history.Â
Edwards’ name can be seen all over Raider record books, including being first in career field goals made with 861, first in scoring average with 20.1 points per game, second in free throws made (460), fourth in rebound average (8 boards per game), and fifth in blocked shots (80).
In his senior season, the Middletown, OH native scored 757 points, which is the most for a Raider senior season. He also ranks in the top ten in junior scoring (second with 586 points), sophomore scoring (second with 528 points), and freshman scoring (first with 432 points).
Edwards spent time in the National Basketball League with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers, but spent most of his professional career overseas in Italy. He represented the United States as a member of the 1998 World Games in Greece.
