Ayro Named Horizon League Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON – Wright State senior outside hitter Mya Ayro has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Ayro finished last weekend with 48 total kills as she helped Wright State win two of three matches in the Raider Invitational. Ayro finished with a match-high 24 kills against Santa Clara Friday night, surpassing the 1,000 career kill mark in the fourth set. On Saturday, the senior turned in eight kills in the Raiders' sweep over Eastern Illinois before finishing with a match-best 16 kills against Marquette in the weekend finale. For the weekend, Ayro averaged 4.8 kills per set and hit .255 while adding five blocks, 13 digs and three service aces over 10 sets.

Ayro and the Raiders will host six games as part of the 2026 Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational this weekend, with all four opponents facing each other in a round-robin format. Action gets underway on Thursday, September 3, with a neutral site match when Ball State and Western Kentucky face off at 6 p.m. Friday begins with another neutral site match between Dayton and Ball State, followed by Wright State and Western Kentucky facing off at 6 p.m. Match play continues Saturday with Western Kentucky facing Dayton at 1 p.m. before Wright State meets Ball State at 4 p.m. The excitement culminates on Sunday, with a crosstown rivalry matchup between Wright State and Dayton at 1 p.m.
