The Wright State men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to nationally-ranked UIC at Alumni Field on a chilly Friday evening. The Flames tallied an early goal in the first half and the Raiders answered with a goal of their own late in the second half on a free kick before UIC tallied the golden goal at the 108:07 mark.

The Flames, ranked 12th in the nation by SoccerAmerica.com, netted their first tally at the 6:07 mark of the first half. Tonci Skroce sent a long pass from midfield that was controlled at the feet of Eric Cervantes. Cervantes outran the Raider defense and beat WSU keeper Tebias Mason for his sixth goal of the season.

In the first half the Raiders had multiple chances to knot the game, but UIC goalkeeper Jovan Bubonja made two saves and watched a pair of shots sail just high of the net.

In the second half, the Flames kept the pressure on and the Raiders answered with runs of their own. In the 85th minute, WSU answered on a free kick from senior defender Jonah Baskin. After a foul by the Flames in UIC territory, Baskin set up for the free kick from 40 yards out. Baskin sent a line drive shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and bounced into the net to knot the game at one goal apiece.

In the first overtime, Baskin again had an opportunity to send the Raiders to victory with a free kick. The free kick entered the box and freshman Braden Fleak nearly missed deflecting the ball into the net with a diving header. UIC had their opportunity in the 94th minute when Baggio Husdic beat the Raiders defense and sent a shot towards goal that WSU's Mason made a diving save on.

The game ended when Skroce was taken down on a foul in the box and awarded a free kick. Skroce, who also tallied an assist, sent a shot past a diving Mason to end the game at the 108:07 mark.

The Raiders, 6-8 overall, are now 0-5 in the Horizon League and are in action at Alumni Field on Sunday October 15, against Detroit. The Raiders look for their first league victory at 2:00 against the Titans.
