
Volleyball Drops Four-Game Decision at Green Bay

For the second straight day, the Wright State volleyball team won the first game, only to see the home team rally from there as the Green Bay Phoenix defeated the Raiders in Horizon League action Saturday at the Phoenix Sports Center 21-30, 30-24, 30-24, 30-13.
The Raiders led just 20-17 in the first game before recording three straight points, incluing an ace from Becca Awaa. Wright State then wrapped up the win by scoring five of the final six points, with two Jenny Schultz kills accouting for the last two.
Game two was tied at 19 until Green Bay pulled away with six consecutive points, three coming on kills from Sarah Rauen. The Phoenix and was in control the entire way in game four with a 23-6 advantage in kills.
For the match, Green Bay outhit Wright State .234-.174, including .302-.144 over the final three games, and had a 70-47 kill advantage, 56-33 over the final three.
Schultz led WSU with a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs while Lizzy Gunn had eight. Lindsey Frank hit .385 with six kills as she also added 33 assists and 11 digs while libero Sarah Poling had 23 digs.
Setter Betty Slinger nearly had a triple-double of 16 kills, 30 assists and nine digs for the Phoenix (9-10, 3-4 Horizon), while Rauen posted a double-double of 15 kills and 14 digs. Holly Visser had a double-double off the bench with 15 kills and 14 digs.
Wright State, now 10-12 overall and 4-3 in the Horizon League, returns home next weekend to host league leader UIC on Friday, October 20, at 7:00 followed by Loyola on Saturday, October 21, at 4:00.
