The Wright State men's soccer team ran its winning streak to three with a 1-0 victory at IPFW on Thursday evening. A pair of freshmen helped WSU to the victory, as Andrew Eakle took an assist from Carl Ebers to net the eventual match winner.
The Raiders opened the scoring with only 12 seconds left in the first half when Eakle connected on his career marker. The goal was set up by an Ebers free kick from 25 yards out that Eakle redirected into the back of the net.
At the half, WSU held the advantage in shots (7-5) and shots on-goal (3-1).
The goal by Eakle was the first of his WSU career and was the eventual match winner as senior goalkeeper Tebias Mason held the Mastodons scoreless. It was the first assist of the season for Ebers, who also collected his first points in the Green and Gold.
Mason made five saves in the match to post his third shutout of the season and WSU out-shot the Mastodons 19-12 in the victory.
The Green and Gold will next be in action on Sunday, October 28 when they entertain Valparaiso at Alumni Field. The two teams will take to the pitch at 4:00, with Alumni Weekend and Senior Day highlighting the festivities.
