
Men's Soccer Falls to #24 Akron

The Wright State men's soccer team dropped its sixth straight contest on Wednesday evening against #24 Akron, falling 2-1. The Green and Gold couldn't find the net in their fourth straight contest and were outshot 19-9 in the match.
Akron got the scoring started in the 30th minute when Blair Gavin netted the marker off of a corner kick. Then in the 37th minute, the Zips added their second tally of the match when Corey Sipos notched the goal, again off of a corner kick.
Tebias Mason made three saves and faced 10 shots in 45 minutes of action in the first half.
In the second half, the Zips recorded the final marker of the contest when Pablo Moreira scored the third goal of the match off of a corner kick.
In the match, Anthony Ampaipitakwong assisted on all three goals and was the point man on every UA corner kick.
The Zips held the advantage in shots (19-9) and corner kicks (11-3), while WSU keepers made five saves to UA's two. Matt Koewler played the final 45 minutes in net for the Green and Gold and recorded two saves in his first action of the season.
The Raiders are now 2-7 overall and will take to the pitch at 7:30 on Friday, October 5, against Green Bay. The women's team will square off with Butler at 5:00 at Alumni Field as the two teams will kick off Homecoming Weekend with a doubleheader.
