The Wright State men's soccer team dropped their eighth straight match on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field, falling 1-0 to Milwaukee. The Raiders outshot the Panthers and took seven second half corner kicks but an early first half goal proved to be the deciding tally.
The Panthers (2-8-1, 2-0-1 HL) got the scoring started in the sixth minute when Zeke Dombrowski stuck a crossing pass from Elliott Dunn and buried it near post for the marker.
The two teams each took one shot in the first half before WSU would turn up the pressure in the second stanza.
WSU held a controlling edge in shots (8-2) and corner kicks (7-1) in the second half, but could only test UWM keeper Ryan Germann twice. The Raiders forced Germann to make two saves in the second half of the match.
The Raiders held the overall edge in shots (9-3) and corner kicks (8-6), while also holding a 2-1 advantage in shots on-goal. Roger Downing led the Green and Gold with three shots in the match and Jonah Longino recorded two shots off the bench.
Wright State is now 2-9 overall on the season and falls to 0-2 in Horizon League play. The Raiders will take to the road for three straight matches, starting with a trip to Chicago to take on Loyola and UIC. The Raiders and Ramblers will kickoff on Friday, October 12, starting at 8:00 Dayton time.
