
Men's Soccer Tops Valparaiso to Open Tournament Play

The Wright State men's soccer team won their First Round match in the Horizon League Tournament on Friday evening at Alumni Field, defeating seventh-seeded Valparaiso 2-1. WSU tallied a pair of goals in the first 11 minutes and held on to defeat the Crusaders.
WSU struck just 3:15 into the match when Tony Labudovski struck with opening marker, with an assist from Josh Grossman. Grossman sent a crossing pass from the left flank and Labudovski sent a shot into the top corner of the net for his third goal of the season.
With the goal, Labudovski now has scored 20 goals in his career and ranks 11th on the all-time goals list.
Then, in the 11th minute, the Green and Gold struck with their second goal of the match when Drew Eby gathered a crossing pass from Braden Fleak and shot it into the open net for his first career goal.
The Crusaders tallied their lone goal in the 58th minute when Steve Shively netted his fifth marker of the season.
Tebias Mason made two saves in the match and WSU outshot Valparaiso 15-5. Wright State tallied two corner kicks, was called for two offsides and tallied more than one goal in their past two games.
WSU, now 8-12 overall, will now head to Chicago for their second round match against UIC on Sunday, November 11. The Raiders and Flames will tangle starting at 8:00 Dayton time at Flames Field.
