
Volleyball Falls in Three at Green Bay

The Wright State volleyball team could not overcome a .339 hitting night by Green Bay as the Phoenix defeated the Raiders in Horizon League action Friday night at the Kress Events Center.
Game one was back and forth early with five lead changes and 10 ties, including a 13-13 deadlock following a kill by Lizzy Gunn. Green Bay, however, went in front for good by scoring four of the next five points, three on Liesl Tesch kills, and finished the game with a 7-2 burst as Carlie Willison had three kills.
The Phoenix then jumped out to a 7-2 advantage in game two and gradually pulled away from a 19-15 lead in the third game to close out the match.
Green Bay held a 56-38 kill advantage as the Phoenix outhit the Raiders .339-.168.
Lindsey Frank led the way for Wright State as the senior setter had nine kills and just one error in 13 attempts in hitting .615 for the match with 22 assists. Gunn also had a strong night as she recorded eight kills with only one error in 13 attempts for a .538 hitting percentage. Libero Lexi Leonhard chipped in 16 digs.
Tesch paced Green Bay (3-8, 1-1 Horizon) with 20 kills in hitting .581 while Nikki Hintze had a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. Setter Betty Slinger added seven kills along with 47 assists and seven digs.
Wright State, now 4-10 overall and 2-1 in the Horizon League, wraps up the Wisconsin trip Saturday afternoon against League leader Milwaukee starting at 5:00 Eastern time.
