Softball Splits With Toledo

Wright State scored 14 runs and collected 22 hits on the day, but came away with just a split at Toledo Tuesday afternoon as the Rockets rallied for an 8-6 win in the first game before the Raiders took the second 8-4 in a game shortened to six innings due to darkness.
The Raiders scored twice in the second and once in the third inning of game one and appeared to be in control by going 6-2 with three more in the fourth, two of those coming as Jherica Williams crushed a two-run home run over the scoreboard in left center, her 10th home run of the season.
After recording just two hits through five innings, however, Toledo exploded for five runs on as many hits in the sixth to take the lead for good.
Michelle Logan added three hits and Williams, Heather Bauer had two each. WSU, though, left 13 runners on base, including the bases loaded twice and two more in three other innings.
Wright State again had the early lead in game two with a run in the first as Jamie Perkins walked, went to third on a Williams double and scored on a Kristen Bradshaw groundout, but Toledo went in front 2-1 with a pair in the third.
It stayed that way until the fifth when the Raiders scored three times. Williams was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run and the other two came in on a fielder's choice off the bat of Bradshaw and Justine Shilt reaching on an error.
WSU tacked on four more in the sixth on a two-run double from Williams and RBI singles by Perkins and Bradshaw.
Erica Singer hit a two-run homer for Toledo (8-15) in the bottom of the sixth, but the Rockets would get no closer as the game was called after the inning was completed.
Williams and Bradshaw each drove in three in the second game while Perkins scored three times. Ashleigh Jackson (6-5) picked up the win as she gave up two earned runs in the complete-game effort while striking out six.
Wright State, now 17-17 on the season, returns to Horizon League this weekend as the Raiders visit Youngstown State for a three-game set, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12, at 1:00.
