Swimming and Diving Have Solid Showing at Miami Invitational

The Wright State swimming and diving program competed at the Miami Invitational over the weekend, with solid showings from each squad. The men's team placed fourth with 1401 points, while the women's squad placed eighth with 608 points.
The men's squad posted their best showing in the 50 free, where TJ Collins (21.40) placed fifth and Drew McDaniel finished ninth (21.66). Collins also placed third in the 100 free while Botha placed eighth in the 200 free event.
Ville Pikkarainen claiming top-six finishes in both back events. Nathan Demchuk and Pawel Grzebala placed ninth and sixth, respectively, in the 1650 free, the first time that WSU has contested in that event this season.
The men's 200 free relay team claimed the lone title at the Miami Invitational, posting a season best time of 1:24.10. The 400 free relay squad placed third and the 800 freestyle relay team claimed a fourth place finish.
On the women's side, Molley Pipkorn posted four top-ten finishes, claiming fourth in the 500 free, fifth in the 200 free, seventh in the 1650 free and ninth in the 100 free. Krystyna Wieczerzak swam in five individual finals during the three-day event and Pipkorn also competed in five events.
In the relay events, WSU grabbed a sixth place finish in the 800 free relay and a ninth place showing in the 200 free relay.
The Raiders will return to the pool on December 12 as they will compete at Tampa during their training trip to Florida.
