
Volleyball Sweeps Evansville to Open Raider Challenge

The Wright State volleyball team won its fourth straight match by beating Evansville 25-15, 25-20, 25-19 Friday night in their first match of the Raider Challenge. WSU, now 6-1, is off to its best start since going 10-1 in 2001.
The Raiders were led by junior Jessica Woods added 12 digs with nine kills while sophomore Chanel Gillies ended with eight kills and six total blocks. Freshman Stefanie Shiramizu garnered 19 digs in the three set match.
Though the Raiders controlled much of the match, the Purple Aces did lead 20-18 late in the second set until WSU came back with seven straight points. Evansville falls to 4-3 on the season.
In an earlier match at the Raider Challenge, Kent State defeated Saint Peter's 3-0.
Saturday's schedule will be as follows:
WSU vs Saint Peter's 10 am
Evansville vs Kent State Noon
Evansville vs Saint Peter's 5 pm
WSU vs Kent State 7 pm
