Softball Drops 3-2, 12-inning Heartbreaker at Cleveland State

For the second straight game, the Wright State softball team saw a late lead slip away and Cleveland State eventually win the game on a walk-off home run as the Vikings rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh and, on a Dara Toman home run in the 12th, win 3-2 in the series finale Sunday afternoon in Cleveland.
The Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the fourth as Jamie Perkins reached on a fielder's choice, stole second, advanced to third as the throw on the steal attempt was bobbled by the center fielder and scored as Allison Cox singled to center.
WSU added a run in the seventh as Kristen Bradshaw's sacrifice fly to left.
Raider starter Sharon Palma had limited Cleveland State to just one hit through six innings, but the Vikings rallied to tie it in the seventh on a Megan Bashak solo homer to center and a RBI double off the bat of Gabby Gillilan with two outs.
It stayed that way until Toman went the other way on an 0-2 pitch for a home run to right in the 12th off of reliever Melanie Heyne (5-10), who allowed just two hits in five innings of work.
China Frost paced the Raider offense with three hits.
Wright State (13-20-1, 4-5 Horizon) heads to Marshall Wednesday for a 2:00 doubleheader.
