
Women Fall at Morehead State

The Wright State women's basketball team fell behind 18-5 early and could not recover as they dropped a 78-63 decision at Morehead State Saturday.
MSU scored 12 straight points to break away from a 6-5 lead, but the Raiders closed the margin to 20-14 on a Courtney Boyd layup with 10:32 remaining in the first half.
Threes from Linda Dixon and Almesha Jones, however, extended the Eagle advantage back into double figures and Morehead State led by at least eight the remainder of the period before taking a 40-30 halftime lead.
WSU shot 41 percent in the first half, but MSU was at 49 percent, including six of 11 from three-point range.
The Raiders would get no closer than eight the rest of the way as Morehead State broke the game open with a 13-2 run to go up 62-43 with 9:32 to play.
MSU outshot WSU 43-37 percent and the Eagles were 11 of 23 from behind the arc compared to just three of 12 for the Raiders. Morehead State also led 27-12 in points off of turnovers as they forced 26 while committing 16.
Wright State had four players in double figures and nearly had a fifth as Kim Demmings had 16, Boyd 12, Breanna Stucke 11, Sarah Hunter 10 and Molly Fox nine.
Dixon paced Morehead State (2-6) with 23 points while Ashar Harris posted a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds.
Wright State (4-2) wraps up its five-game road swing Tuesday with a visit to crosstown rival Dayton starting at 7:00.
