A goal with just under 10 minutes remaining proved to be the difference as the Wright State men's soccer team fell 1-0 at Western Michigan Friday afternoon.
Shane Lyons scored the lone goal of the contest at the 80:19 mark of the second half as his shot from the left found the far right corner of the goal on assists from Jason Grant and Omar Jaroun.
"Compliments to a hard-working Western Michigan team," said head coach Bryan Davis. "Today's game was a great lesson for our very young team. When you fail to capitalize on moments, you leave yourself open to get beat. Credit Western Michigan because when they got their moment, they finished."
Neither team managed many shots as the Broncos had nine and the Raiders eight, with WSU holding a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Wright State (4-2-1) is off until opening Horizon League play on Saturday, September 24, at Detroit starting at 2:00.
