The Wright State softball team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Loyola in the Hillebrand Invitational finale Sunday in Tucson, Arizona.

The Ramblers opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the third, only to see the Raiders answer right back with a pair of their own in the top of the fourth. With one out, Libby Pfeffer singled through the right side and pinch-runner Macey Gunther advanced to third as Kaitlyn Kite reached on a throwing error. A Becka Peterson hit to right plated Gunther and pinch-runner Rachael Oakley later scored as Ashton Salyers reached on another error.

Loyola regained the lead with two runs in the fifth, but WSU cut the deficit with a run in the seventh. Kelly Dillow led off with a walk and after pinch-runner Honnah Susor went to second on a Salyers ground out, she scored on a pinch-hit single to center off the bat of Ashley Sharp.

Wright State, though, would get no closer as a double play ended the game.

Pfeffer had two hits to pace the Raider offense while in the circle, Montana Wear struck out seven in a complete-game effort.

Wright State (0-5) returns to action with two games on Saturday, February 21, at the Governors Classic in Clarksville, Tennessee, taking on South Dakota State at 1:30 Eastern followed by IPFW at 4:00 Dayton time.
