Softball Falls at Dayton

Wright State overcame an early 3-0 deficit to take a one-run lead, only to see Dayton go in front to stay with four in the third as the Flyers won 9-6 Tuesday at UD Softball Stadium.
The Raiders scored a run in the first as Reagan Stofcheck doubled in Jess Gorman, but the Flyers answered with three in the bottom of the inning.
WSU, though, tied it with two in the second on back-to-back home runs by Alexis Mayle and Kate Pfeffer, the first of the season for both. Wright State then went up 4-3 with another run in the third on a RBI single off the bat of Hanna Floyd.
Dayton, however, quickly regained the advantage with four runs in the bottom of the third and added single runs in the fifth and sixth.
WSU tacked on a run in the sixth on a Libby Pfeffer ground out and another in the seventh as Honnah Susor tripled in Kelly Dillow, but could get no closer.
Kate Pfeffer and Stofcheck each had two hits for Wright State (15-27), who returns to Horizon League play this weekend as the Raiders host UIC in a key three-game series, starting with a single game Friday at 5:00.
