Wright State women's soccer (8-6, 3-2) heads to Indianapolis to take on conference newcomer IUPUI (11-3, 5-0) on Friday at 7:00 pm.
Wright State
After dropping two conference matches to Northern Kentucky and Milwaukee, the Raiders found their winning ways this past Saturday with a 2-0 League victory over Oakland, moving them to 3-2 in the conference. With four conference matches remaining, the Raiders will look to senior midfielder Sarah Colvin, junior forward Aaliyah Patten and junior midfielder Mattie Cutts to solve the IUPUI defense and put points on the board. Redshirt senior Niki Romero returned to the field Saturday after missing three matches to bolster the defensive midfield, distributing the ball nicely to the forwards.
IUPUI
IUPUI currently holds the nation's second longest win streak, winners of ten straight including five conference matches. In conference play, the Jaguars have held opponents to one total goal. They are led on offense by senior midfielder Hayley Shelton, freshmen forward Valentine Pursey and senior forward Krissy Kirkhoff. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Lipka has played all 14 games in goal for the Jaguars, boasting a 0.20 goals against average and .944 save percentage in conference play, both tops in the Horizon League.
Series
The Raiders look to remain unbeaten against IUPUI as they currently hold a 7-0-0 record against the Jaguars. The last match between the two took place in 2012 at IUPUI with the Raiders winning 4-1.
Next Up
The Raiders return back to Alumni Field on Wednesday, October 18 for a 7:00 pm match against Cleveland State. This game will be the final regular season contest for the Raider seniors. They will be honored before the start of the match.
