The Wright State men's basketball team will take a four-game winning streak on the road as they play at Western Kentucky Saturday at 5 pm eastern.
Wright State
The Raiders (4-3) won all games in their own tournament last weekend as they beat Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville and Fairfield after defeating Tiffin last Monday night. Four Raiders are averaging in double-figure scoring, led by senior Grant Benzinger at 13.0 while fellow senior Justin Mitchell is at 11.3 points per game. Freshman Everett Winchester comes off the bench to average 10.3 and junior Mark Hughes is at 10.0. Freshman Loudon Love is nearly averaging a double-double at 8.7 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Winchester earned the Horizon League Freshman of the Week honor for the second time in three weeks this season as he averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds over the four-game winning streak. The Raiders won four straight games twice last year.
Western Kentucky
The Hilltoppers, 4-2, have recent wins over a ranked Purdue team as well as SMU in the Paradise Island Tournament, and against in-state rival Eastern Kentucky Wednesday night 83-51. Western Kentucky has played only eight players this season as six have double figure scoring averages, led by Darius Thompson at 13.1 points. WKU lost to future Raider opponent Missouri State 85-80 at home to open the season. Senior Justin Johnson was named to the Conference-USA preseason team for the second straight year after being named to the league's second team last March. The Hilltoppers were picked to finish sixth in the 14-team league.
