2018 Senior Night to be held Friday at Alumni Field
Five @WSU_WSoccer Seniors to be Honored Friday
10/26/2018 11:03:00 AM | Women's Soccer
The Wright State women's soccer team will round out the 2018 regular season Friday night, and honor five seniors for their contributions to the Raiders women's soccer program. The Detroit Mercy Titans will make their way to Alumni Field for a 7:00 pm match, with senior night festivities set to take place just prior to kick-off. During the festivities, the Raiders will honor Brooklyne Mason, Monica Hennen, Aaliyah Patten, Lexie Ulrich, Kayla Schrubb, and Mattie Cutts.
Raider Round-Up
The green and gold have found their stride at exactly the right time of the year, winning three of their last four matches. The Raiders (6-7-2, 5-2-1 Horizon League, T-3rd Place) have guaranteed themselves a place in the Horizon League Tournament, with Friday's match determining whether they or NKU gets the #3 and #4 seed. Prior to falling on the road to Cleveland State on Sunday, the Raiders had won three straight matches, scoring a season-high three goals in victories against UIC and Cleveland State. Senior Aaliyah Patten continues to pace the Raiders offense, with her 13 points leading the way for the green and gold. Maddie Jewell has elevated her play late in the season, posting a miniscule .750 goals against average in the Raiders' last four matches.
Scouting Detroit Mercy
Under 27th year head coach Mike Lupenec, the Titans (7-7-3, 3-4-1 Horizon League, T-5th Place) have plenty to play for Friday night, as the result of the match will have a direct effect on whether or not they find themselves in the Horizon League Tournament. Similar to Wright State, the Titans are finding their stride at just the right time. Winners of their last four overall, Detroit Mercy has given themselves a chance to make the tournament, and to control their own destiny with a win guaranteeing them a minimum of a 5 seed. The Titans have played seven overtime matches this season, while only seeing a negative result in one of those matches. Carly Fiorido is the goal scoring leader for the Titans, while Julie Ann Piechocki leads the team with 13 points on the season.
Coverage
Friday's match will be the final regular season home game for the Raiders' senior class, so fans are encouraged to pack Alumni Field to show support for the green and gold! The match will be shown live on ESPN3.
