#20 @WSU_Mens_Soccer Plays Crucial #HLMSOC Match Friday Night
11/2/2018 9:45:00 AM | Men's Soccer
The 20th ranked Wright State men's soccer team will be back in action on Friday, when they round out the regular season by hosting the Milwaukee Panthers. Friday's match has playoff implications for the Raiders, and is also the program's senior night, honoring the program's two seniors Dan Bent and Eric Hutton.
Raider Round-Up
The Raiders (12-2-2, 5-1-1 Horizon League, 1st Place) will have the opportunity to control their own destiny regarding Horizon League Tournament seeding when they take the pitch on Friday night, as a win or a draw will guarantee first place for the regular season. A loss on Friday would muddy the waters in terms of seeding, with the results of three other matches helping to determine seeding at that point, including a scenario where the Raiders fall as far as third place. The green and gold suffered their first conference setback of the season on Saturday, in a heart-breaking contest at Green Bay that saw the Raiders surrender the only goal of the match in the 80th minute. Head coach Jake Slemker will certainly have his side ready to go Friday night, as having more than four days to prepare this season has led to a 7-1-2 record in such contests.
Scouting Milwaukee
The Panthers (8-6-2, 3-3-1 Horizon League, 6th place) arguably will have the most to play for of anyone in the Horizon League on Friday, as they sit just on the edge of the playoff picture, with a loss seriously jeopardizing their hopes of playing in the Horizon League Tournament. Evan Conway has been the main goal (6) scorer for the Panthers this season, and he will be heavily relied upon to spark the offense in Friday's match. Freddy Lorenzen has made 61 saves this season, leading to a stifling 1.02 goals against average and a .782 save percentage.
Coverage
Fifteen minutes prior to the start of the match, the Raiders will hold a ceremony honoring seniors Dan Bent and Eric Hutton for their contributions to the Wright State men's soccer program. Fans will want to arrive at Alumni Field early to take in the pregame festivities, and a crucial Horizon League game to follow! The match will also be carried live on ESPN3.
