@WSUVBall Drops Close Match at Green Bay

After an important win over Oakland Wednesday night, the Wright State volleyball team traveled to Green Bay for a Sunday afternoon match where they fell to one of the Horizon League leaders 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-20. WSU is 13-13 and 5-9 while GB goes to 16-10 and 11-3.
The Raiders were led by Mallory Ladd with nine kills as Grace Hauck ended with seven, hitting .462. Alannah Lemming added six kills and Celia Powers five while Lainey Stephenson had 28 assists, five kills and 13 digs. Jenna Story finished with 20 digs.
With her 485 digs in her freshman campaign so far, Story has moved in the the 10th spot for the most digs in a season at Wright State.
First Set
The teams exchanged leads with neither team taking control. WSU led 18-16 when the Phoenix came back to lead 19-16 as the Raiders stayed strong, tying it at 21 each then at 23. GB ended winning 25-23. Ladd had four kills with two each by Lemming, Hauck, Powers and Abby Barcus. Plus, WSU had 10 assists from Stephenson and seven digs by Story.
Second Set
Another close set with a similar outcome as Green Bay won 25-23. WSU was up 11-7 and 14-10 when the Phoenix came back to lead 21-17 and 24-20. Ladd collected four more kills as setter Stephenson picked up three kills and eight assists.
Third Set
The score was tied at seven each when the Phoenix pulled ahead 15-10 but the Raiders crept back in at 19-16. Hauck was strong with five kills and a hitting percentage of .571 as Stephenson posted 10 more assists and Story eight more digs.
Next Up
The Raiders will head home to end the regular season with a Friday match vs Cleveland State at 6 pm and Youngstown State Saturday at 4 pm. Saturday will be Senior Day for Alannah Lemming and Bailey Wheatley.
