Straight Sets Win for @WSUVBall

In a match that took a little over an hour, the Wright State volleyball team won in three straight sets Friday afternoon against Western Illinois in the first action of the Crusader Classic in Valparaiso, IN by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18. Â WSU is now 7-3.
Celia Powers and Teddie Sauer led the way with 11 kills each as Sauer hit an impressive .588 overall while Powers added 10 digs. Alannah Lemming added nine kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Lainey Stephenson posted 33 assists and nine digs. Jenna Story had 18 digs.
First Set
Western Illinois led 5-4 and 11-9 until the Raiders caught fire to lead 20-16 and cruised to the final 25-17. WSU hit .220 led by Powers and Sauer with four kills, and Stephenson's 12 assists.
Second Set
WSU jumped to a 10-3 early lead, then 16-6 on their way to a 25-20 win. The Raiders hit .343. Lemming and Sauer each had four kills as Stephenson added three with 11 assists. Hannah Colvin registered an ace.
Third Set
Wright State led 10-3 but WIU narrowed the gap at 18-16 until the Raiders pulled away to win 25-18. Powers finished the third set with four kills. Taylor Gibson hit .400 with two kills while Lemming and Sauer nabbed three more kills each. Â

The Raiders continue play in the Crusader Classic Saturday when they play Cornell and host Valpo on Saturday.
