Raiders set for long Wisconsin road trip

The Wright State volleyball team returns to action this weekend with a pair of contests in Wisconsin, first to take on Green Bay on Friday night at 7 p.m. and then to square off with Milwaukee at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The Raiders currently sit in second place in the Horizon League standings at 5-1 in conference play while holding a 16-2 overall record. Last time out, Wright State had its 16-game winning streak snapped with a loss at UIC on October 11, the first match in a five-game road trip for the Raiders.

The team's successful start to the season has posted many outstanding statistics. Libero Jenna Story has been named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week four times this season and she contributes to the Raiders' 19.91 digs per set average, which ranks second nationally. Another statistic Story adds is first in digs per set for HL as she averages 6.37. Wright State's current RPI ranking is 53rd in the NCAA's latest release, which is much improved from last season's end of the year 191st RPI. The Horizon League is making its mark overall, as one of the seven conferences nationally with six or more teams in top 100 in RPI.

Green Bay

After capturing its first regular season title and winning the Horizon League conference last season, Green Bay was picked atop the 2019 HL Preseason Poll.
The Phoenix hold a current overall record of 12-6 and a 4-2 conference record. They suffered their two conference losses to Milwaukee and Cleveland State.
Currently, Green Bay sits in third in HL rankings behind Milwaukee and Wright State.
Returning Horizon League Tournament MVP and HL Offensive Player of the Year Taylor Wolf has earned HL Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this season. Also returning to the roster is Setter of the Year Maddie Yoss, who just recently added her 1,000th career dig.
Last season Green Bay won both matchups against the Raiders.

Milwaukee

Milwaukee finished last season ranked fifth and were voted the seventh spot in the 2019 HL Preseason Poll.
Currently holding a 18-2 overall record and a 5-1 conference record after suffering their first HL loss to Oakland on October 13.
The Panthers went on a 16-game winning streak of their own this season, briefly leading the country after Wright State's loss on October 11 before their own loss two days later.
Milwaukee currently sits on top the Horizon League rankings, and is first in kills, hitting percentage and assists for overall statistics this season.
The Panthers return 15 players, with 12 of them appearing in at least 50 sets last season.
The Panther offense is run by setters Jenna Dore and Rylie Vaughn. In 2018 the two combined for a total of 20 double-doubles. Dore finished with 634 assists and Vaughn followed with 592 assists.
Coach Susie Johnson is in her 13th season as head coach and has been a part of the coaching staff for 22 total years.
The Panthers won both matchups last year against the Raiders.
