Raiders return home to host Horizon leaders

The Wright State volleyball team returns home for the first time in nearly a month as the Raiders host a pair of Horizon League leaders inside McLin Gym this weekend. The Raiders welcome league leader Milwaukee to town on Friday at 6 p.m. before a 4 p.m. matchup with Green Bay on Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders currently sit third in the Horizon League standings after defeating Northern Kentucky and IUPUI on the road last weekend. Currently, Wright State sits second in in the Horizon with a .205 hitting percentageand second in blocks as they average 2.52 per set. The team is ranked third in kills, averaging 13.27 kills/set, behind Milwaukee and UIC.
Raider sophomore Jenna Story earned her fifth Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honor this week after her performance during last weekend's road matches in which she amassed 69 total digs for an impressive 8.62 digs/set. Story has maintained the No.2 spot in the nation in digs per set average at 6.34 and the only sophomore in the top five nationally. Fellow teammates Teddie Sauer and Lainey Stephenson have also earned Horizon League honors this season.

Milwaukee
- After being voted seventh in the 2019 Preseason Poll, the Panthers are currently atop the HLÂ standings with a 22-2 overall record and a 9-1 conference mark.
- The team's only HL loss this far was to Oakland in first half of conference play. This loss halted Milwaukee's 16-game winning streak.
- Milwaukee leads the Horizon League in kills, hitting percentage and assists for overall statistics this season.
- The Panthers return 15 players, and 12 of them appeared in at least 50 sets last season.
- Freshman middle hitter Ari Miller ranks first in the HL with a hitting percentage at .310 for the season. Junior middle blocker Carmen Heilemann holds a .294 hitting percentage and ranks fourth.
- Jess Grabowski earned her second HL Defensive Player of the Week award this year on Oct. 21st. She has recorded double-digit digs in 21 of their 22 matches, averaging 5.25 digs per set.
- Earlier this season, the Panthers defeated the Raiders by a 3-1 score in Milwaukee.
Green Bay
- Green Bay sits second in the HL standings behind Milwaukee after being picked first in 2019 Preseason Polls.
- The Phoenix hold a current overall record of 12-6 and a 4-2 conference record. They suffered their two conference losses to Milwaukee and Cleveland State.
- Returning Tournament MVP and League/Offensive Player of the Year Taylor Wolf has earned HL Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this season. Also returning to the roster is HL Setter of the Year Maddie Yoss, who just recently tallied her 1,000th career dig.
- Maddie Yoss earned HL Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after last week's wins over Cleveland State and Oakland. Yoss currently leads the HL in total-assists with 872 and assists per set average at 10.51.
- Green Bay defeated Wright State in the first matchup this season as the Raiders went on the road and fell 3-1.
