11/15/2019 4:15:00 PM | Men's Soccer
The Wright State men's soccer team will face off against Milwaukee in the Horizon League Championship Saturday afternoon in Chicago at Flames Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4p.m. ET.
For the second consecutive season, The Raiders will take to the pitch Saturday afternoon in pursuit of an automatic bid to what would be the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
A story book couldn't have written it better for the underdogs of the Horizon League Tournament, the Panthers entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed and the Raiders at No. 5, respectively. Milwaukee knocked off top seeded UIC in what would ultimately be a game decided by PKs, with a final score of 0-0 (3-0 PK). Wright State upset No. 2 Oakland with a score line of 4-1 in the second Semifinal contest, with the match seeing three different Raiders score at least one goal.
The Raiders opened Horizon League play facing the Panthers on the road at Milwaukee (September 21), ultimately walking away with a 4-1 victory. That game saw four different goals, by four different Raiders two of which scored during the Semifinal contest on Thursday evening. Stefan Rokvic started the scoring efforts for the raiders in the 24th minute, for what would be the only goal of first half. Following halftime, Wright State scored two unanswered goals as Ids Hannema scored in 59th minute and Jackson Dietrich in the 68th. Milwaukee's Vuk Latinovich put the hosts on the board in the 76th minute by way of a penalty kick. The Raiders' Alec Philippe sealed the deal for the visitors as he scored in the 80th minute.
