Wright State's Nathan Dunn and Shelby Nolan each finished second in their respective races on Saturday at the 2019 Horizon League Championship, as the Raider women finished fourth in the team standings and the men's squad turned in a fifth-place finish.
Â
Dunn's time of 24:07.0 was just 0.3 seconds off the time of champion Connor Goetz of Oakland in a photo finish. Dunn's finishing time of 24:07 shattered the Wright State standard in the men's 8K, which he had just broken with his 24:20 time two weeks ago.
Â
In the women's race, Nolan secured the second-place finish with her time of 19:54.5, nine seconds off the pace of champion Maggie Schneider, also of Oakland. Nolan's finishing time of 19:54 reset the Wright State standard in the women's 6K, which she set with a mark of 21:16 two weeks ago.
Â
The top seven finishers in both races earn First Team All-Horizon League honors, while finishers in places 8-14 are second team honorees. Saturday marked Dunn's second First Team honor, and fourth consecutive recognition overall, while Dunn earned First Team honors for the first time in her career after previously earning second team recognition last year.
Â
Dunn paced the Raider men to the fifth-place team finish, while Max Pettit (19th, 24:59.4), Jacob Poling (32nd, 25:38.1), Benjamin Bowers (37th, 25:46.3), Ethan Emmert (52nd, 26:47.1), Michael Board (53rd, 26:49.7) and Wyatt Stahl (54th, 26:50.7) also registered points towards Wright State's team total. Tim Steimle (28:06.5), Bryce Hohman (28:25.1), Nathan Childs (29:11.2) and Jordan Brown (32:06.6) also competed.
Â
