Wright State earns fifth seed for Horizon League Championship

The Wright State men's soccer team will hit the road for Horizon League Championship quarterfinal action on Monday, as the Raiders travel to Green Bay for a 2 p.m. kickoff.

The Raiders will be the tournament's No. 5 seed, while the Phoenix are seeded fourth. Monday's game will be live on ESPN+.

During the regular season, Wright State fell 1-0 at home to Green Bay last Saturday night, November 2. Â Green Bay's Michael Carreon broke through the scoreless drought in the 86' to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead. Wright State was awarded a penalty kick in the 89', with Stefan Rokvic's shot connecting with the right goal post and staying out. The Raiders finished with a 22-10 shot advantage in the loss, placing six shots on goal to the Phoenix two.Â

Across the remainder of the Horizon League Tournament, UIC clinched the regular season title and the No. 1 seed to earn a quarterfinal bye and will host the semifinals and championship matches of the Horizon League Men's Soccer Championship November 14 and 16. Oakland secured the No. 2 seed with its best finish in the HL since 2015 when the Golden Grizzlies claimed their second HL tournament title., and also received an opening round bye.

Monday night's remaining quarterfinal match will be between No. 3 seed Detroit Mercy and No. 6 seed Milwaukee. Monday night's winners will advance to the semifinals on November 14, where No. 2 seed Oakland will play the highest-remaining seed after the quarterfinals and No. 1 seed UIC will play lowest-remaining seed.
