
Wright State defeats Marian on Education Day

The Wright State women's basketball team held off a determined Marian University squad for a 64-60 victory on Wednesday morning inside the Nutter Center in the Raiders' only home contest in the month of December.
Wright State will hit the road again and prepare to face Iowa State at 1 p.m. on December 15 before heading to the Sunshine State and taking part in the UCF Holiday Tournament, where it will face off against St. Bonaventure (Dec. 20 at 12:00 p.m.) and UCF (Dec. 21 at 1:30 p.m).
Sophomore Angel Baker finished with a game-high 26 points on Wednesday, her fifth consecutive 23+ point game and her seventh double-digit game out of the last eight. Redshirt freshman Shamarre Hale contributed 11 points and pulled down five total rebounds, one offensive and four defensive for her third double-digit scoring effort of the season.
The Raiders finished the night shooing 70 percent (7-for-10) from the free throw line while hitting 42.9 percent of their shots from the field (27-for-63). Wright State out rebounded Marian 41-36 while forcing nine turnovers and holding the Knights to just 25 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Despite being outscored by the Knights in both the third (20-11) and fourth (21-20) quarters, the Raiders held on to walk away victoriuous on Education Day. With the win, Wright State improves to 5-4 overall while Marian is 11-2.
